One day trip to Manchinbele, Big Banyan Tree, Extremezone


This is a one day trip to Manchinbele Dam and surrounding areas including Extremezone (http://extremezoneindia.com)
  • What to see?
    • Manchinbele Dam, surrounding areas
    • Big Banyan Tree (Dodda Alada Mara)
    • Extremezone at Dabbaguli. Camp styled resort with tents and out door activities. They also arrange for boating/canoeing in backwaters of manchinbele Dam
    • Extremezone has a package which includes lunch, tea, and outdoor activities like burba walk, paint ball etc. For details refer the website.

  •  Route:
Bangalore to Manchinbele Dam and Dabbaguli.
1.       From nice road exit on mysore road, take the mysore road and just after Raj Rajeshwari Dental college take the right that goes to Big Banyan Tree.  Go in for few kilometers and you will find Big Banyan tree on the left. The road continues further straight and after some time you will reach a point from where if you take right you can reach magadi road and left will take you to Manchinbele dam. The magadi road can be used if you want to visit Shavanadurga hill. Take left at the junction and after few kilometers you will find Manchinbele dam on the right. For extremezone continue further till you reach a place with a board giving direction to Dabbaguli totowards right. The road till this junction is good. After this the road is typical non existent Indian rural road.





  • Driving directions
    • If you are coming from Marthahalli on the outer ring road, reach sick board and take hosur road. Before electronic city take the NICE road and continue till Mysore road exit. Then follow the directions mentioned above. The toll on NICE road for cars was 90 at the time this article was written.
  • Where to Eat?
    • Carry your own food if you are planning for Manchinbele Dam only. For extremezone prior booking is required. They provide complete package.  

  • Other points:
    • Driving / Photography is allowed near the Dam.
    • For extremezone packages makes sense.
    • You can just go out to enjoy the drive and see Big Banyan tree and Manchinbele Dam and come back.
    • There is a road from Manchinbele to Shavanadurga – this is NOT recommended for small cars. The road is in horrible shape.
